It's somehow already mid-September, and if you're within driving distance of Portland, that means I might see you at the Rose City Convention! I'll be there all three days at table B-08 with plenty of books and paper for those who sign up for commissions. Or I'll sign your comics or exchange conspiracy theories, I'm up for anything at a home show. I also have some panel appearances;
SHOW YOUR STORIES
Friday, September 11, 6:30 pm-7:30 pm Room D 133-134
Steve Lieber and Jeff Parker guide you through their processes of creating scenes and characters in visual storytelling. Attendees will learn how collaboration can drive comics to surpass goals and how the medium works like no other. You’ll be shown original pages and demonstrations of how to put across your story best for readers.
HULK HORROR
Sunday, September 13 3:00 pm-4:00 pm Room E 141-144
If you enjoyed Professor Saunders’ exploration of Hulk comics history, why not stick around for his conversation with acclaimed contemporary Hulk writers, Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Infernal Hulk) and Jeff Parker (Red Hulk), as we explore the paradox of the monstrous hero in still greater depth. What are the greatest thrills—and challenges—of writing the Hulk in the 21st century? Why has the curse of the Hulk spread so widely, creating one of the largest super-powered “families” in Marvel comics? And are Hulk comics always really Horror comics in disguise?
Also I might be appearing at Bryan Stratton's Marvel By The Month panel right after mine and Steve's Workshop, I'm not sure! But just in case go to 7:45 pm-8:30 pmRoom E141-144 because it's going to be good, and about Dr. Doom. If you want to try to make sure I have some book in particular (like the heavy Batman '66 Omnibus, say), drop me a comment and let me know ahead of time and I'll see what I have. Look forward to meeting some of you this weekend.
